going green?

Hey so I've been getting into growing veg in the garden. I started a little too late, most seeds were sown in July and should have been april, but carried on and eventually got a load of peas, carrots, runner beans, and loads of salad. Well my tomatoes have started ripening after they moved to the conservatory, I was thinking of what I can do now for next year. I looked up growing plants indoors and after filtering out 95% of it (growing weed) I stumbled across aquaponics. Basically using plants to filter the junk out of a fish tank and putting the clean water back in. In some cases the plants can be twice as productive and on an industrial scale you grow fish for eating! I was thinking of trying a smaller scale version of this...I have 2 fish tanks, pumps, lights for plant growth (as well as a south facing window) and loads of stuff for growing plants in so if I get the go ahead from Mrs C ill post pics and video of my progress... now who knows maybe one day ill have solar panels to operate the pump and lights!
